The TED4LAT project of the « Horizon 2020 » program has been launched
In October 2022, the European Union Research and Innovation Program « Horizon 2020″ (HORIZON-WIDERA-2021-ACCESS-03) project » Twinning in Environmental Data and Dynamical Systems Modelling for Latvia – TED4LAT » started, in which Riga Technical University, Liepāja University, Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences will strengthen its capacity in the field of big data and dynamic modeling in the TED4LAT project. The French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment (Institut National de Recherche pour l’Agriculture, l’Alimentation et l’Environnement – INRAE) and the Polytechnic University of Turin (Politecnico di Torino – POLITO) in Italy will participate with their expertise. Latvian private sector will be represented in the project by SIA « Baltic Open Solutions Center ».
On November 3rd of this year, a project initiation meeting was held in Riga, where all involved parties presented project plans and achievements, as well as doctoral students presented their research topics. The TED4LAT project will last 36 months, the project partners will participate in the development a strategic Research Agenda in the multidisciplinary area of Data Science and Dynamical System Modelling to tackle urgent Environmental and Socio-Economic challenges. Building upon the expertise of INRAE and POLITO in the field of the Environmental Engineering, Socio-Technical Digital Systems, Statistical Data Analysis, Material Science, Green Energy and Finance, additionally will be implemented such measures as computational infrastructure upgrades, doctoral schools, workshops, exchange visits and seminars. Activities will not only take place during the project, but will also continue after the end of the project. The outcomes will be critically important to increase the ability and capacity of Latvian universities to carry out large-scale and high-quality research in the aforementioned domains.
